Honolulu Symphony Chorus Announces Auditions

The Honolulu Symphony Chorus today announced open auditions for all voice parts for the 2008 Symphony Season. Experienced singers are encouraged and welcome to audition. In April 2008, the Symphony Chorus will play a pivotal role in the Eleventh Annual Hawaii International Choral Festival and performances of the grand Requiems of Gabriel Fauré and Maurice Duruflé.
Auditions will take place Monday, February 4 at the University of Hawaii at Manoa Music Department, Room 36 (located at 2411 Dole St., corner of University Ave. and Dole St.). Please contact Ross Taosaka to reserve an audition place: (808) 524-0815, ext. 257 or e-mail: symphonychorus@gmail.com.
Each singer is asked to bring sheet music for a solo audition piece that may include a hymn, art song, or aria. Please be prepared to be voiced by Chorus Director Nola A. Nāhulu and to perform some sight singing. It will also be mandatory to take part in the full rehearsal with the Symphony Chorus that evening. Chorus rehearsal will be from 7:00 to 9:30 p.m. to be followed by individual auditions. |
